A Brief on 1965 Dodge Polara

The Dodge Polara is a full sized car that was pioneered in United States. The Name Polara was there for a long time in the nameplate and later on that was changed to Dodge Monaco. The name polara refers to the polaris star. This 1965 Dodge Polara was a tough competitor not only for the Ford Galaxie 500 but also for the Chevrolet Impala.

In 1965 Chrysler pushed the 1965 dodge polara to a full size platform like the sedan, hardtops, station wagons etc. Initially Polara was available as a 2 door convertible. Then it just improvised as a 2-door hardtop coupe, 4-door hardtop sedan, 4-door hardtop station wagon and hi-conventional 4 – door sedan. All these cars were well known for their styles, “jet pod” tail lights and so on.

This 1965 dodge polara replaced the 880 model of polara but it remained a step below the Custom 880. But even then the Dodge ‘ top model remained as the Monaco. The medium sized 1965 dodge polara cars were put up for sale under the names of 500, 440. The polara 330 was there in the manufacture in the name of Dodge Cornone. The wheels of these 1965 dodge polara came down to 117 inches. This was where the 1965 dodge polara was criticized. The fuel economy of these the 1965 dodge polara was very low. The configuration was only around 12 miles on a gallon of gasoline.

In the year 1966, the Monaco model was replaced by the Custom 880. This was considered as a mid level model. Then there came up a new Monaco 500 model. This went on for some time and later on this was again replaced. It was replaced by 1965 Monaco that in turn went one for a year. The 1965 dodge polara in 1967 received a facelift and the hardtop coupe. This type of the 1965 dodge polara adopted a semi fastback roof style . This was along with a reverse slant. This slant was near the rear quarter window.

One thing that was unique or may be definite about the 1965 dodge polara from 1965 to 1968 was that it was taut. It had a square edged styling . Only this was updated every year. From 1965 to 1970, these Dodge cars were full sized dodge and this was the only model that was available as convertible in US during this period.
